About the Business
Bolton Old Links has its roots way back in 1891 when a merry band of very keen golfers laid out a nine hole course on the moors of Smithills Bolton. In 1911, after a few 'altercations' with the land owner, who was rather more interested in the hay crop than the golf being played, a large group of the Membership decided to seek land elsewhere. Other Members wanted to stay and sort out the problems, so the Club agreed on amicable terms to split into two, some staying put to form the 'Old Links GC' and others securing a site at Lostock Park to form another Golf Club, now known as 'Bolton Lostock GC'.
