A SPECIAL golfing experience awaits close to the sands of Stravannan Bay on the west coast of the beautiful Isle of Bute. Here you will find a hidden gem. Bute Golf Club's unique nine-hole Kingarth course which provides an opportunity to sample the very origins of the game. Golf has been played here for more than 120 years, making it the oldest course on the island. Players can enjoy the splendour of seaside golf in a spectacular setting with the dramatic backdrop of The Sleeping Warrior on the mountains of Arran.
There are panoramic views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre in the west and to the Ayrshire coast in the east from this short, but tricky, course. A £15 green fee entitles golfers to play all day and green fees should be deposited in the honesty box at the clubhouse. There's no need to book tee times.
