About the Business
The game of golf and the golf industry have evolved over the years and our role has significantly changed too. Despite a trend in recent years of declining members in golf clubs across Scotland, golf remains the highest membership based sport in Scotland. Much time and effort is dedicated to supporting clubs in an attempt to reverse that trend and to ensure that we can encourage participation in the game of golf and promote it as a sport for life which is accessible to all.
Building on the traditional support of handicap and course rating advice, there is now expert guidance available to clubs in a wide range of area's including governance, business planning, marketing, health and safety, environmental, child protection and other legislation issues affecting Scottish golf clubs. A small organisation such as the SLGA does rely heavily on the support of external parties.
